Berlin Climate and Security Conference 2020 - Migration and Displacement in the Context of Climate Change: A Sustaining Peace Approach

The objective of this webinar is to discuss the impacts of climate change and conflict on displacement. The starting point of the discussions will be to outline the international law frameworks that apply to climate- and disaster-induced migration. The webinar will then analyse the impacts of climate change on displacement through a sustaining peace lens. It will also look at possible mitigation strategies by addressing root causes and prevention, as well as adaptation and resilience-building interventions. The webinar will involve three speakers who will provide practitioners' and academics' expertise on the topic during a 20-30-minute panel discussion. The second part of the webinar will be interactive and participants are invited to engage in a discussion with the panellists.
