III Ibero-American Forum on Migration and Development

Event Date:
Monday, October 22, 2018 to Wednesday, October 24, 2018

Following previous editions organized in Ecuador (2008) and El Salvador (2010), the Guatemalan Pro Tempore Presidency of the Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State is organizing the III Ibero-American Forum on Migration and Development on 22-24 October 2018 in Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala. Under the title “Migration and development in the XXI-th century: a transformative Ibero-American agenda”, the forum is supported by IOM, University Rafael Landívar, the Spanish General Secretariat for Latin America (SEGIB), the Spanish Development Cooperation Agency (AECID) and the Mexican Development Cooperation Agency (AMEXCID).

The Forum will gather representatives of governments, academia, the civil society and international organizations to discuss inputs for the XXVI Ibero-American Summit of Heads of States which will take place in Antigua, Guatemala, in November 2018.

One of the Working Groups during the Forum will specifically address the environmental drivers of forced migration, including disasters and the adverse impacts of climate change, thus providing an opportunity to identify recommendations to be suggested to Heads of State on this issue.
