Youth and Environment Europe with Youth4Nature are bringing a series of #ClimateofChange webinars. Friday, 23 October 2020, will take place the first one, an online panel discussion on Climate Migration.
Climate change is expected to have major impacts on human mobility. Natural disasters and environmental degradation affect the movement of people, at times making it difficult for communities to remain in areas their ancestors have inhabited for decades and centuries. On the other hand, people have always moved under the combined influences of changing environments, economic, social and political dynamics. Why does this kind of migration deserve special attention in the context of climate-related disasters in the 21st century?

- Ms Mariam Traore Chazalnoel, Senior Expert in Migration, Environment and Climate Change at the IOM
- Ms Lucie Pélissier, Co-President of CliMates and consultant for Des Ponts Pas Des Murs (Bridges not Walls), a network to map civil society actions on environmental migration
- Ms Marta Rodrgiguez and Mr Lillo Montalto Monella, two journalists behind Euronews’ Europe’s Climate Migrants web series
- Dr Caroline Zickgraf, Co-founder and Deputy Director of the Hugo Observatory at University of Liège, a research center committed to the study of interactions between environmental changes, human migration, and politics.
