Praxis Discussion Series - Climate Change
A panel discussion on avoiding a 4 degree warmer world with Rachel Kyte, World Bank Vice President for Sustainable Development, Tessie Eria Lambourne, Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Immigration for the Government of Kiribati, and Kevin Hennessy, Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research.
The World Bank has warned that the world is heading towards a 4-degree warmer world by the end of the century, which would trigger violent changes like extreme heat-waves, declining food stocks, more intense natural disasters, and a sea-level rise that would directly affect hundreds of millions of people. This is not inevitable, so what needs be done to avoid a drastically warming world? How can small island states, like those in the Pacific, adapt to the challenges of climate change, and address the risks they face?
