Summary of the panel discussion on human rights, climate change, migrants and persons displaced across international borders - Report of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (A/HRC/37/35)
Summary
Informe del Taller regional para el desarrollo de Lineamientos y/o Guía de prácticas para la protección de personas desplazadas entre fronteras en el contexto de desastres
In recent years, many countries in South America have experienced a wide variety of disasters caused by natural hazards, such as floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and landslides, and exacerbated by the adverse effects of climate change. This is the case of the devastating earthquake that affected Chile in 2010 or the heavy rains and floods that affected much of the Bolivian territory in 2014.

Reducing displacement risk in the Greater Horn of Africa
The thematic report presents the first baseline for displacement risk associated with sudden-onset disasters in the countries of the Greater Horn of Africa with the ultimate aim of reducing future displacement risk. As sudden-onset natural hazards, primarily floods, caused more than 600,000 new displacements in 2016 in the Greater Horn of Africa, this report is very timely.
