Assessing the Migration, Climate Change and Conflict Dimension in the Lake Chad region

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is implementing a project on "Assessing the Migration, Climate Change and Conflict Dimension in the Lake Chad region", covering Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Nigeria. The objective of the project is to strengthen the evidence on climate-related migration in the Lake Chad Basin and its impacts on livelihoods, so as to inform governmental and humanitarian policies and action. The project includes desk research and field data collection through IOM's DTM tools and methodologies, which will be presented in a final analytical report. IOM has been in touch with various governmental and UN partners for the development and implementation of this project and to seek synergies with ongoing work in the region, in particular with UNHCR and UN Environment. The final findings of the project will be presented at a meeting in the Lake Chad region planned for October 2018.

The project is funded by the IOM Development Fund. The project budget is USD 175,000 (combined figure for all 4 countries) and ends at the of 2018.
