The UNECA in partnership with UNDRR invites you to participate virtually in a side event on “Awareness Raising of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration and Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction” on the margins of the 8th Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD), on the 28th February from 4:00pm to 5:30pm (Kigali Time GMT+2).

The objective of the side event is to raise awareness of the Sendai Framework for disaster risk reduction, the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration and the declaration of the sixth high level meeting on disaster risk reduction held in Tunis, Tunisia in October 2018, in the context of the implications of extreme climate events and addressing migration and displacement in Africa.

The side-event will also explore the progress made on achieving Targets 13.1, 13.2 and 13.3 on strengthening resilience and addressing disaster displacement and migration through the Sendai Framework and Global Compact for Migration in Africa.
