IOM conducted a pilot training for policymakers and practitioners in Asia and the Pacific on the migration, environment and climate change nexus.

The training gathered 20 government officials from 15 countries in the Asia-Pacific region: Australia, the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the People’s Republic of China, Cook Islands, India, the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of Maldives, Mongolia, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, the Republic of Korea, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the Republic of Vanuatu and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. Participants included policymakers and practitioners with diverse backgrounds, such as climate change adaptation, development, disaster risk reduction, environment, foreign affairs, labour, migration, etc.

The training was hosted by the IOM Migration Research and Training Centre located in Ilsan, Republic of Korea.

Output
This workshop allowed IOM to pilot test its training tools and methodology and adjust them following participants’ feedback.
