Environmental & Climate Mobilities Network 2024 Conference: Call for Papers

The Environment and Climate Mobilities Network (ECMN) was launched in 2023 at the initiative of the Hugo Observatory of the University of Liège, Wageningen University & Research, United Nations University - Institute for Environment and Human Security and the University of Vienna. Between 9 and 12 July 2024, the transdisciplinary network will gather for its second edition in Liège, hosted by the Hugo Observatory, under the title “Environmental Changes & Migration: Bridging Disciplines for a New Research Agenda”.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks to support the network’s efforts to connect people working on migration and human (im)mobility in the context of environmental and climate change. At the occasion of this second edition, IOM has released a call for papers and a papers contest at the attention of the participants of the Environmental and Climate Mobilities Network.

We welcome submissions of works in progress on all areas related to environmental and climate mobilities, such as migration, displacement and planned relocation. These papers will seek to inform the research community and will enrich the discussions that will take place during the 4-days conference.

The winning paper will be jointly selected by the ECMN Working Group and IOM, and the author of the best paper will be invited to be a panellist at an organized side event at #COP29 in Baku. Financial costs associated with this attendance will be covered by IOM.

Final papers, of no more than 5,000 words including footnotes, should be sent by Wednesday 7 august 2024 to isabelle.schwengler@uliege.be, sbanerjee@iom.int and eduparc@iom.int. Participants will be notified of the outcome of their application by Monday 2 September 2024.

Reserved for participants in the ECMN24 Conference whose paper has been selected for presentation.
