Across Europe, many people are still endangered by the air they breathe. Air pollution and clean energy are high on the European Union’s (EU) policy agenda and are clear priorities for the European Green Deal. However, their connections with migration have been under-explored.
Groups that may be vulnerable to the impacts of poor air quality include mobile populations, such as internal migrants, daily commuters and international migrants. However, migrants and their families can also be part of the solution and can help achieve the emission reduction targets if enabling conditions are created.
Join IOM's Green Week Partner Event, where panellists will discuss how the EU, EU Member States and Governments in the Western Balkans, international financial institutions, private sector and other partners could integrate migration considerations in the roll-out of clear air initiatives.
More information on the event available on EU Green Week 2021 and IOM Regional Office Brussels.
