The Philippines has been a strong voice in the call to action to address the climate crisis, as it has likewise taken important steps to deliver on its climate change commitments. At COP28, the President of the Philippines, H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., will announce that the Philippine Government is completing the Philippines’ National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and the Implementation Plan for the Philippines’ Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC IP).
This Ministerial-level event will discuss critical actions and partnerships needed to deliver transformative action outlined in the Philippines’ ambitions and commitments under the NAP and the NDC IP. The event will highlight how programs and activities by key partners of the Philippines can be leveraged to support financing, capacity building and new technologies towards the Philippines NDC IP and NAP.
As the climate ambition of the Philippines remains the core of its national economic development plan, the mobilization of climate finance, along with partnerships, capacity building, and new technologies are key to realizing this goal. As such, this high-level panel discussion aims to examine and leverage international cooperation and partnerships of the Philippines, with the goal of identifying best approaches and linkages to implement concrete projects, programs, and activities.
