Co-organized by: International Organization for Migration (IOM) and UN Women
Co-sponsored by: The Permanent Mission of Fiji to the United Nations, the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations and the Women in Migration Network.
Under the priority theme “Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes,” this side event will bring together diverse voices from governments, the United Nations, civil society and experts in the field to present concrete actions to protect and promote the rights of migrant women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental degradation, and disasters. This event will also underscore the importance of gender-responsive implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) in addressing the impacts of climate change, environmental degradation and disasters.
