The session will discuss examples, opportunities and challenges for including human mobility (forced displacement, voluntary migration and planned relocation), within national, regional and international disaster risk reduction plans and frameworks. The session will focus on the importance of community based initiatives, for example in the context of planned relocation. The session will also address disaster risk reduction actions required for people at risk of displacement in the context of disasters. These include, for example, evacuation as a life-saving measure, development of contingency action plans based on mapping of communities at risk of displacement, development of infrastructure and early warning systems, and mechanisms allowing admission in another country for disaster victims.
